Start off with a {{Item List |id=6228 |item=Refine Ticket}} of your choice. The easiest to get is the +7 ticket, with +8 being harder to get and +9 being extremely rare (see [http://51.161.117.101/wiki/index.php/Refinement_System#Safe_Certificates here]). After using the refine ticket, it is recommended to use Enriched Ores along with {{Item List |id=6635|item=Blacksmith Blessing}} to ensure the highest success chance at refining as these ores '''CAN BREAK THE EQUIPMENT''' so remember to make sure you have bsb (blacksmith blessing) selected. Alternatively, if you have an abundance of refine tickets and only a few bsb, you can use HD ores to attempt to get a weapon to either +9 or +10.

[[File:Asterisk.png]]Starting at +10 HD ores are the only resource available. HD ores are always '''safe, they will never break the equipment''', but will instead reduce the refine rate by 1. If used with a bsb however, they will no longer reduce the refine rate. You do not need to use a bsb, they can be used to get to +14, but the cost is generally too high.

There are only 2 viable options to refine shadow gears: {{Item List|id=23436|item=Shadow Refine Hammer}} which will result in a random refine on the shadow gear from 1~10 with 10 being extremely rare, or {{Item List|id=23926|item=+9 Shadow Hammer}} which will bring your shadow gear of choice to +9. You can then use {{Item List |id=6635|item=Blacksmith Blessing}} and enriched ores to get the gear to +10. Alternatively, if the shadow gear you are refining can be easily farmed, you can use normal ores to try to get the gear to +7 before using the bsb.
